Cape Fear Academy students, parents, and fans take great pride in knowing their teams are playing on some of the nicest facilities in Wilmington and in the state of North Carolina.

The New CFA Athletic Complex: Home to Cape Fear Academy’s field hockey, boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, boys’ lacrosse, and girls’ lacrosse teams. The complex has two fields located across South College Road from the main Cape Fear Academy campus. Both fields are equipped with state-of-the art Electro Mech scoreboards sponsored by Wilmington Orthopaedic Group. The complex features a coaches tower located between both fields that allows access for filming, announcing, and storage for all teams. The coaches tower also has a state-of-the-art sound system installed by Finklestein’s of Wilmington. The playing surface of the West field closet to South College Road is a synthetic turf field made by Sportexe and constructed by Sports Construction Management. The playing surface of the East field at the new complex is Celebration Bermuda grass designed by McBride’s Lawn Service.

The field house located at the new complex was constructed by Thomas Construction and completed in October 2009. The field house contains four locker rooms, concessions area, public restrooms, coaches offices, and a central meeting room which overlooks the entire complex.

Bruce B. Cameron Gymnasium – Home to Cape Fear Academy’s boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading teams. The facility was built and dedicated in 1972 and has a capacity of 675 for home games. The playing surface is a maple floor with new floor graphics added in 2006. The gymnasium has retractable bleachers, a new sound system, two Electro Mech scoreboards, and three locker rooms.

The Bellamy Fitness Area: The Bellamy Fitness Area opened September 2000 in the Beane Wright Student Center. The fitness area is filled with exercise and weight equipment. It has a large flat-screen TV and sound system for individual and school team workouts.

The Bellamy Tennis Center: Home to the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams. The Hurricanes compete and practice on six hard tennis courts built in 2006. It is located on the southwest corner of the campus providing ample parking and easy access for players and fans alike. CFA has hosted four NCISAA state champions on these courts and surrounding facilities in Wilmington.

The Cape Fear Country Club: Home to the Hurricanes’ golf team. CFA is privileged to call the Cape Fear Country Club its home course. The course is less than 10 minutes from CFA's campus. The 18-hole "Cape Fear" course at The Cape Fear Country Club facility in Wilmington, North Carolina features 6,856 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.4 and it has a slope rating of 134. It was designed by Donald J. Ross, ASGCA/(R)Kris Spence. Cape Fear Academy thanks all of the membership of Cape Fear Country Club for their generous support of the Hurricanes' golf program.

Hugh MacRae Park: Home to Cape Fear Academy’s boys’ cross country and girls’ cross country teams. The all-grass course accommodates cross country loops in this fantastic spectator course. Hugh MacRae Park is arguably the most intriguing and popular park in all of Wilmington.

The YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear: Home to the Hurricanes boys’ and girls’ swim teams. The facility is located on College Road only 5 minutes from campus and features an inflatable bubble to cover a 6-lane, 25-meter pool.

CFA New Facilities - 2010-2011 Construction
In the summer of 2010, CFA will begin construction of a new gymnasium and transformation of the current gymnasium into a performing arts center. The new gymnasium will feature a competition gym floor that will be 94-ft long main court with two crossing 84-ft long courts. The seating for the new gym will be . The facility will include a walking track on the second floor around the main court, 6 classrooms, 4 storage areas, 6 locker rooms, training room, concessions area, development offices, athletic offices, and a new fitness/weight room.
In the building process, CFA will lose one of their two athletic fields on campus. The current main field will be redone and shifted. The new field will be reseeded with Bermuda grass over the summer and fall and will be playable by the spring of 2011 for Middle School sports teams.
