Community Service - Upper School
Upper School students are required to complete 72 hours of community service during their four years of high school. The expectation is that each student performs 9 hours per semester for a total of 18 hours per year. They may complete their requirement with both on-campus and off-campus activities.
The Upper School Student Government has a branch that is solely devoted to community service. A vice-president oversees these activities and offers regular communication about opportunities for students to participate in a wide variety of projects. Some of their off-campus projects have included: Beach Sweep (trash pickup), Relay for Life, Good Shepherd House soup kitchen, and coaching mentally handicapped children. On campus, students can volunteer to be tutors and student tour guides to meet their requirement.
