A screening of the locally filmed short film Acito on the Mound, produced by Cape Fear Academy’s Mr. Benedict Fancy and his production company Fiddler’s Creek Productions, will take place on February 12th at 7:30pm in the The Brown Family Theatre located inside the Erin E. McNeill Fine Arts Center. The movie, based on the short story Acito on the Mound, was written by Gene Miller the father-in-law of director Shawn Lewallen, and portrays the tale of Gene after leaving his friend Joe Acito’s funeral and driving to a baseball field where the two played a memorable game together in 1963. This game was a story Joe liked to recount about a rough day he had pitching and how he had to dig deep to find the moxie needed to try and get himself out of the inning. The story tells the tale with humor and heart. It speaks about the spirit of baseball and brings to life the players who love the game. Most of all it celebrates the joy of life, explored through Joe Acito’s day on the mound.
The public is invited to enjoy this FREE SCREENING with the cast and crew of the film before the film starts its film festival run. Cape Fear Academy is particularly proud that two CFA alumni, Camille Bourne ’15 (Script Supervisor) and Jay Batchler ’14 (Visual Effects Supervisor) worked on the film as well.
