Boys Tennis and Varsity Girls Soccer Teams Take State Championships!

The Cape Fear Academy Boys won NCISAA 2A Tennis Championship today in Wilson, defeating O’Neal School 9-0.  The team, with a 17-2 record, is the 6th CFA tennis team in seven years to win the state title.  

Singles winners: Tristan Smith (6-1, 6-0), Jack Gallop (6-0, 6-0), Mike Mills (6-2, 6-0), Tyler Smith (4-6, 6-1, 14-12), Caspian Goudarzi (6-2, 4-6, 10-8) and Robert Schuett (6-0, 6-0).

Doubles teams:  Smith & Smith (8-1), Gallop & Mills (8-2) and Jason Atwood & Schuett (8-3) 

The Varsity Girls took the NCISAA State 2A Soccer title in a 2-1 overtime victory in Winston-Salem against Asheville Christian School.  Senior Addie Lalier scored the winning goal to break a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation.  Senior Leah Falor was the other scorer. Eighth-grade goalie, Delaney Mitchell, stopped seven opposing shots.  Cape Fear Academy ends the year with a 16-2-2 record.
