Their NCISAA 3A state victory also was a win for the entire CFA community, hundreds of whom came out for the championship game. Students from every grade, many in athletic jerseys, along with parents, faculty, staff, and alumni cheered them on — filling the stands, sidelines, and every parking spot in the area. That contagious school spirit and connection are evident in the photo of second grader Henry Mann joining the jubilation. And, as coach Meade McFarlane commented to the media, it was a win for all of Wilmington. “It was great to see a lot of people from the local high schools and club teams supporting us. Most of our guys came up through the club system, so a win for us was a win for the city.” With winter sports getting underway, let’s keep school spirit high. Go ‘Canes!
