Eighth Graders at CFA to be Battleship Deck Hands

EIGHTH GRADERS AT CAPE FEAR ACADEMY TO BE BATTLESHIP DECK HANDS

One of Cape Fear Academy’s core beliefs is in the value of community and service to others.  Throughout all grades, students participate in projects and individual efforts to give back.

Each spring, eighth grade students at Cape Fear Academy participate in group projects where they use their time and talents to give back to the Wilmington community.  In recent years, students have volunteered at Paws Place (animal shelter), Head Start, and local elementary schools.

For the next three Fridays, all of Cape Fear Academy’s 58 eighth graders will be the “hands on deck” to clean and paint the Battleship North Carolina.  In advance of the coming tourist season, the battleship needs a substantial amount of work to prepare this icon of local and national history for the visitors it expects to receive.  Teachers and parents will accompany the students as they all engage in this community service effort.

Dates:  March 14, 21, and 28
