Cape Fear Academy held it’s 6th grade science fair on Jan. 16, and seven of those projects were sent to the District 2 Science Fair held at the University of North Carolina Wilmington Feb. 16-17 to compete with middle school students across eastern North Carolina. The CFA students who competed were Faye Riebe, Trip Rodgers, Avery Block, Luke Hudson, Slade Forkin, Taylor Sanderford, and the team of Jane Wells and Catchie McDonald.
Taylor Sanderford earned Honorable Mention in the Biological Sciences B Division with her “Globs of Gluten” project. Luke Hudson earned 3rd place in the Biological Sciences A Division with his water themed project, “RO Radness.” Avery Block won first place with her “Density Dash” project in the Physical & Mathematical Sciences Division and will represent CFA at the North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair, held March 29-30 at North Carolina State University.
