The North Carolina State Math contest is a network of NC mathematics contests offered in three divisions (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Comprehensive), culminating in state-level final competition. We had ten students travel to compete in the NC Regional Competition at Elizabeth City State University on Tuesday, March 27.
There were nearly 300 students at the competition, and our team brought home the 2nd place team award. Freshman Evan Zhang placed 3rd, and sophomore Mike Shi placed 4th individually. They both qualified for States and will be joining the five team members that placed to qualify for States two weeks ago against nearly 500 other students at the regional competition at Chowan University: Cole Frazier and Drew Vliet in Comprehensive, Brooks Miene (3rd place) for Level 3, David Novak (2nd place) in Level 2, and Dillon Moore in Level 1.
Our 23 Comprehensive students were split between the two contests and both groups brought home 2nd place finishes.
A special thanks to our US Math teachers Cody Adams and Caroline Higgins for working hard with these students!
