Susan A. Boyer Named as next Director of Lower School

Headmaster Donald Berger has announced the appointment of Ms. Susan Boyer as Director of Lower School beginning July 1, 2013.  She succeeds Mrs. Elizabeth White who is retiring after 22 years as Lower School Director and 24 years of total service to Cape Fear Academy.

Ms. Boyer is completing her second year as the Director of Programs at the International School in Vienna, Austria. Prior to that, she served as the Elementary Associate Principal and then the Director of Educational Facilities and Program Development at Colegio Franklin D. Roosevelt in Lima, Peru.  Having worked in schools on five continents, including serving as Assistant Principal at Timber Drive Year-Round Elementary School in Garner, N.C., Ms. Boyer’s wealth of international experience and knowledge of lower school pedagogy will be particularly valuable as Cape Fear Academy embarks upon its new strategic plan. She received her B.A. in Education from Virginia Tech and her Master of Science in Education with a focus on reading from Old Dominion. She also earned a Master of School Administration from N.C. State.
