Varsity Girls Swimming Wins at States

CFA Girls Swimming 2021

The Cape Fear Academy Varsity Girls Swim Team finished as the NCISAA Division II State Runner-Up, and the Varsity Boys Swim team finished 8th in the state at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Tuesday, Feb. 9. The girls’ state runner-up finish is the highest finish in CFA history for a varsity swim team. Their accomplishment will be celebrated with a new banner in the gym and an addition to the trophy case. Congratulations to all of our swimmers and their coaches-Megan Green, Karen Stump, and Kendall Green.

Individual First Place Medals:

  • Liza Murtagh in the 200 IM
  • Liza Murtagh in the 100 Breaststroke

Team First Place Medals:

  • 200 Freestyle Relay Team – Leah Murtagh, Avery Bishop, Taylor Crane, and Liza Murtagh
  • 400 Freestyle Relay Team – Leah Murtagh, Avery Bishop, Taylor Crane, and Liza Murtagh in what was a spectacular race where CFA pulled the upset in coming from behind on the last leg of the race.
