Victor Agbafe Elected Speaker of the House at the North Carolina Youth and Government Conference

Congratulations to CFA sophomore, Victor Agbafe who was elected Speaker of the House at the North Carolina Youth and Government Conference on February 14-17, 2013. This is the highest position that a rising junior may obtain at this conference.

Youth & Government is a national YMCA program for high school students. The program enables young people to prepare for moral and political leadership through training in the theory and practice of developing public policy. Students sharpen their leadership skills and improve their problem solving and critical thinking abilities while becoming more adept at debate and public speaking.

Over 1,000 students, advisors and college staff members attend the four-day conference annually in Raleigh with participants having the opportunity to assume specific roles as senators, House representatives, lobbyists, budget analysts, attorneys, judges and press as they act out the creation of mock legislation. There were over 80 participants at the conference this year from Cape Fear Academy.
